So I have been keeping an eye on the upcoming toll increase that is set to happen on April 5, 2009 for almost every toll booth in Orange County. Being an Orange County resident on the east side of Orlando I rely highly on the toll roads to get back and forth to where I am going. This increase will cost me a good amount of money here is a basic breakdown of my increase:
Daily: $1.50
Weekly: $7.50
Monthly: $30
Yearly: $360
Now to some of you this may seem like a small increase but for a couple it can add up. This is just my standard weekly driving for work, now if I were to add in most of the other driving that gets done on toll roads I am sure that it would be quite a bit higher.
What I would like to see is everyone stay off the toll roads on April 5th and "stick it to the man" so to say.
If you would like to join us in doing so please join the facebook group Boycott the Toll Hike.

Why am I hooked on Guitar Hero?
It all started on vacation. I thought it was a one-time thing then I would go back to my normal life. I was young and stupid. But my friend handed me a plastic guitar and turned on the TV and in a flash I was hooked like crack. After that I came home and went back to my life for a while. Then a dreaded day came. Some one asked me that question you have been asked every year since you were 4 years old. “What do you want for Christmas?” and much like that kid in a Christmas story I almost instantaneously answered with out thought. “Guitar Hero”.
Christmas day I unwrapped this beast from hell and immediately I was hooking it up and starting the awesomeness. I named my band, Project Mayhem after Fight Club, and I was ready to rock.
Once again in what seemed like a short amount of time, many hours passed. I keep trying to put the controller down but would just come back to it. I eventually had to return to work from Christmas break and the first day back was a haze, all I could see in my head were those stupid song notes. I rushed home when my shift was over and once again became entranced in the game. I thought I could quit anytime but I can’t. I haven’t been addicted to a video game probably since 89’ when I got my first Nintendo and discovered the joys of Super Mario and his adventures through the world of pipes and turtles.
I soon realized I wasn’t alone. I invited a friend over for a “rock out” we played for at least and hour. I was invited over another friends house for a 3-4 hour “rock session”. We both sat for hours like 30+ yr old zombies in a trance playing the countless amount of songs from our high school years. We hardly said a word aside from a profanity or 2 when a note was missed.
So why is this game such an addiction? Maybe its because I always wanted to be a rock star but was too lazy to pick up an instrument. Maybe its because the music is good on it. Or maybe its just because it’s a mindless game that I can zone out playing and not think about the real world for awhile.

Tune-in Tonight
Tune in tonight as we discuss the world according to us. I am sure there will be rants and raves by the 2 of us about who knows what. I know some of the topics I am looking forward to talking about are fair-weather fans, sex addiction, and this damn kidney pain I have been having.

The World According to RIck
OK so I said I would post more often and although this is more often then I was posting it is still not as often as I had hoped, oh well.
So yesterday I drug my better half to her first UCF basketball game which we ended up losing to Memphis which was expected. What wasn't expected is the fact that we actually made a game of it and were winning through 3/4 of the game. The only reason that I am telling you this is be cause I later went on to the Orlando Sentinel's website to read a story on the game. Low and behold to my surprise there is someone there that is complaining that UCF never wins close games against good teams. Although this is the case I have to say that it really has nothing to do with my support of the UCF sports programs.
The point that I really want to make is that true fans support at team whether they are winning or losing. Bandwagon fans are not what makes a team better, what makes a team better are the fans that are willing to show up at every game and support the team to show the recruits that that fans are there win or lose. By showing those high school students that we are willing to do that makes them more interested in playing for our team than another that they may be interested. Take FSU for example, they have had some bad seasons in the past few years but every game the Doak is full of people. Now if we could do that for every sporting event we would get the athletes we need to win those close games.
Sorry for the rant guys I just needed to speak my mind about fair-weather fans
GO KNIGHTS, CUBS, MAGIC and 49ers :)

The world according to Rick
So as I said on the show last night I plan on posting more and more on the blog and figured this would be a good series of posts. I am going to give my views on recent current events and just overall things that bug me. As I sit here at denny's I just had the server tell me that they were out of the ciabata roll they normally use. I just want to point out this is the same roll half of there lunch sandwiches come on. Now how could you run out of something that is so prominent in your menu? I just dont understand some things I guess. Well off to eat my sanwhich which is now on a burger bun.

New toy
I just wanted to make a post from my new play toy that I finally got yesterday. We went out and purchased a shiny new iphone for me to play with. It really is a cool phone if you have not played with one yet. I am hoping now I will post more being that I don't have to be sitting in front of a computer to do so. Also I have heard that they Might be adding video capabilities and live broadcast so stay tuned.
